P H I L A N T H R O P Y

AOII supports the National Arthritis Foundation, which educates patients and the public about arthritis as well as supports research. Our national philanthropy event is Strike Out Arthritis, which hosts evens with major and minor league baseball teams across the nation, as well as sporting events on college campuses.

Kappa Omega hosts our own philanthropy events throughout the year. In the spring of 2016, we had our first Strike Out Arthritis event, which was a kickball tournament that raised $1,200 just from outside donations. We held our second Strike Out in the fall.

We also participate in Christmas with the Kids, providing gifts and a fun evening at Gatti-Town for families and children in Lexington during the holidays, as well as supporting our troops serving in the military through Sisters for Soldiers. We also participate in the Walk to Cure Arthritis, which is the Arthritis Foundation's annual 5K walk, which raises funds for Arthritis research. In spring 2016, Kappa Omega was the top fundraising AOII chapter nationally, raising over $11,000 for the Arthritis Foundation!

We also participate in other fraternity and sorority philanthropy evens to give back to the Greek Community at UK, like Greek Sing and Bring It On just to name a few! Additionally, we always have a team of girls in DanceBlue, a 24-hour dance marathon For The Kids, with proceeds going to the DanceBlue Kentucky Children’s Hospital Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic through the Golden Matrix Fund.
