Why AOII?: Amanda Davis

When I came through recruitment it was a difficult week for me mainly because making small talk with strangers all day for a week is not really something I am good at, even if it is just talking about myself. I got a lot of rejection that week and started to really wonder if Greek life was for me. Going into Preference Day, I decided to trust the process as everybody says. Honestly, I was a little skeptical about the whole thing until Big/Little Reveal.

Every day during recruitment I talked to my Big and Grandbig. They were my first real friends in the chapter. When it was official that Kelsey would be my Big I was so excited because she always made me feel like I was at home and I was really needed there. My whole family always made me feel included and loved no matter what and as a freshman coming to school in a new state knowing close to nobody, that's what I needed.

I have made sure I get involved by either just participating in events or completely stepping out of my comfort zone and becoming a leader of the chapter. I have gained the confidence in myself that I have never had before because of these girls and that is something I can never repay them for. College is hard but the love and support from my sisters makes everything easier and I know I made the right choice.
